SW Region Active Threat Response Course Description / Registration Link
This course is designed to familiarize designated officers in the Southwest Region with the procedures, practices, and tactics that would be employed in responding to an active threat / active shooter situation in a public building or other setting. Officers will become familiar with standard response tactics employed by region agencies, including clearing buildings, pursuing threats, Rescue Task Force involvement, triage of the injured, and other aspects of responding to and confronting an active threat situation.
Hosted by the La Plata County Sheriffs Department with instructors from LPCSO and the Durango Police Department, as well as other local departments, this course will include scenarios in local public buildings designed to hone officers’ skills in responding to an active threat incident in our Region.
